Cross Pollination: Connection Through the Art of Encaustic
Join us for an opening reception March 5th from 5-9pm as we celebrate the Encaustic art work of Michele Bosak, Julia Heatherwick, Eric Hesse, and Sarah Seabolt.
Encaustic is an ancient painting medium that combines colored pigment with hot wax as a binder. Each artist in the exhibit uses this medium in a unique way showcasing its diversity and possibilities.
Show will run until May 1st.

"The Padre Hotel: Photographs by Felix Adamo"
In celebration of the newly renovated Padre Hotel, Surface gallery is pleased to announce its opening of "The Padre Hotel: Photographs by Felix Adamo." Since its opening in 1928, the Padre Hotel has remained a constant skyline landmark in an otherwise flat Bakersfield horizon. Photographer Felix Adamo has captured unique images of this remarkable building throughout the years as an important part of his ongoing personal project of documenting Bakersfield. The 48 Hour Project "Weston and Emmaline: The Pump Jack Prophecy" A Visual Narrative Collaboration
The 48 Hour Project brings together 27 Bakersfield Artists to collaborate on one visual narrative. Each artist is given 48 hours to produce their contribution to the story.
