We celebrated the one year anniversary with the opening of "One" (new works by Yvonne Cavanagh, Vikki Cruz, Brent Eviston and Liz Sherwyn) on Sept. 4th. It was such a great evening! We would like to say a special thank you to Ron and Mary Cruz for sponsoring the exhibition and also to Valentien Restaurant and Wine Bar for providing the delicious appetizers. Thank you to the community for your support over the last year. We look forward to another exciting year in the downtown Arts District!
During the month of June and July, Surface Gallery opened its doors every Saturday morning to eager students of all levels interested in heightening their artistic abilities by participating in a summer workshop. The classes focused on a different genre of art each weekend ranging in traditional art form like drawing and painting to hands-on types of art work like book binding, block printing, and clay sculpting. The gallery would like to thank its participants as well as the instructors for their efforts and creative energy. Each class brought something new and exciting to the gallery and we look forward to offering them again in the fall. The new classes will begin September 12th , please check back with us soon for further class descriptions and schedule.
Friday, July 10th marked the opening of our current exhibit of new work by Portland artist Michele Maule. "All the Things We Left Behind" was an immediate success with the public and will be on display through the end of August. We would like to thank Michele for making the trek from Portland for the opening of this exhibition of work. If you haven't seen it in person, make sure to stop in! You don't want to miss this.
